i have web project in visual studio 2015
, , few folders in need, don't want being pulled visual studio; these normal folders, node_modules
,bower_components
, etc. nothing fancy them.
however cannot find way "ignore" or "exclude" them. in past, right click folder , tell exclude it, , worked; since upgrading vs2015, option seems gone.
i thought perhaps in .gitignore
, tampered no avail. there new secret this?
i've spent quite time looking around how make npm , bower work smooth website-project - , main problem node_modules-folder nested. causes kinds of path-too-long-issues. visual studio 2015 - website project created older visual studio.
if visual studio project type "web application", , have .project-file web project, should able right click files/folders in solution explorer, , select "exclude".
however, if visual studio project type "website", there no .project-file - cannot exclude files , folders visual studio. trick set hidden-attribute on files or folders windows explorer - visual studio ignore them. don't try set hidden recursive on subfolders - "outer" folder fine.
this worked fine me node_modules. npm-integration , command line npm still works. removed read-only-attribute folder.
if possible, consider converting project web application.
