excel - I am working with pipe delimited files which go off my screen horizontally. I wish to pivot the data so that each horizontal line becomes a column -

i have tried using excel , opens file , places each element in original format within cell, within 3 rows, horizontally. need "names, "fruits" , "cars" turned columns, not rows.

this easy in 2 steps.

1. select column data , use text columns in data tab of ribbon: selecting 'delimeted' , 'other' , entering pipe character.

2. copy resulting range , right-click cell want transposed data go. select 'paste special' , check transpose box. click ok.

that's it.
